PTV - Esteqlal's board of
directors has appointed Amirreza Vaezi Ashtiani as the new chief executive
of the club to replace Ali Fathollahzadeh.
Vaezi Ashtiani, the head of Iran's Cycling Federation, was selected on
Friday night.
Fathollahzadeh was dismissed on Wednesday following the club's poor
performance in Iran's Premier League (IPL) over the past 5 weeks.
Tehran's popular team Esteqlal, coached by Amir Qalenoei, demolished
Esteqlal of Ahwaz 6-0 in the seventh week of the IPL on Thursday.
Zobahan of Isfahan currently tops the IPL table with 13 points and Sanat Mes
Kerman and Barq Shiraz stand in the second and third place with 12 and 11
points respectively. Perspolis is in the 5th level while Esteqlal is in the
7th place with 7 points.
