PTV - Esteqlal's board of directors has appointed Amirreza Vaezi Ashtiani as the new chief executive of the club to replace Ali Fathollahzadeh.

Vaezi Ashtiani, the head of Iran's Cycling Federation, was selected on Friday night.

Fathollahzadeh was dismissed on Wednesday following the club's poor performance in Iran's Premier League (IPL) over the past 5 weeks.

Tehran's popular team Esteqlal, coached by Amir Qalenoei, demolished Esteqlal of Ahwaz 6-0 in the seventh week of the IPL on Thursday.

Zobahan of Isfahan currently tops the IPL table with 13 points and Sanat Mes Kerman and Barq Shiraz stand in the second and third place with 12 and 11 points respectively. Perspolis is in the 5th level while Esteqlal is in the 7th place with 7 points.
