Esteqlal has put Esteqlal of Ahwaz to a 6-0 rout in the seventh week of the
Iranian premier League (IPL).
The Blues, coached by Amir Qalenoei, thrashed Esteqlal of Ahwaz before
40,000 spectators at Azadi Stadium on Thursday night.
Arash Borhani scored two goals in the 21st and 68th minutes. Farhad Majidi
netted in the 73rd and 90th minutes. Pirouz Qorbani and Hashem Beikzadeh
scored in the 35th and 50th minutes respectively.
On Wednesday, Esteqlal chief executive Ali Fathollahzadeh was dismissed
following the club's poor performance in Iran's Premier League over the past
5 weeks.
Zobahan of Isfahan currently tops the IPL table with 13 points and Sanat Mes
Kerman and Barq Shiraz stand in the second and third place with 12 and 11
points respectively. Perspolis is in the 5th level while Esteqlal is in the
7th place with 7 points.
