Esteqlal CEO sacked over poor performance

PTV – Esteqlal chief executive Ali Fathollahzadeh is dismissed following the club's poor performance in Iran's Premier League over the past 5 weeks.

The club's board of directors sacked Fathollahzadeh as well as Mansour Pourheidari, a member of the board, on Wednesday.

Pourheidari, however, was fired due to his constant absence in the board's sessions.

Vaez Ashtiani, the head of Iran's Cycling Federation, and Ali Ansari are considered as candidates to replace Fathollahzadeh and Pourheidari.

Esteqlal currently stands in the 17th position in the Premier League with only four points out of five matches.
