PTV - Tehran's popular
football team Perspolis has come victorious over Payam Mashhad in the
seventh week of the Iranian Premier League (IPL).
The Reds beat host Payam 2-1 before more than 40,000 spectators at the Samen
Stadium on Tuesday night.
Alireza Vahedi Nikbakht scored the opener in the 12th minute but Yugoslavian
Shpejtim Arifi scored the equalizer for Payam in the last minute of the
first half.
Payam, coached by Khodadad Azizi, pushed forward in the second half but it
was Perspolis captain Karim Baqeri who netted in the 54th minute to gain all
three points of the match for his team.
Perspolis, coached by Afshin Qotbi, currently stands in the second place
with 11 points while Payam is placed at the bottom of the IPL table with
just one point from six matches.
