PTV - Iran's national soccer team has clinched the championship of the 5th West Asian Football Federation Championship just ended in Tehran.

The Iranian squad beat Jordan 2-1 in the final game at Tehran's 100,000-seater Azadi stadium on Friday.

Iran's Hadi Aqili scored the opener from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute of the match.

Amer Khalil managed to equalize the score for the Jordanian side on a free kick in the 81st minute, but Kianoush Rahmati's goal in the last minutes of the game helped Iran win its forth WAFF title.

The Asian Football Confederation president Mohammad Bin Hammam presented the cup to Ali Daei's men.

Host Iran, Qatar, Jordan, Palestine, Oman and Syria participated in the event August 7-15.

Iran has won three of the four WAFF championship titles in 2000, 2004 and 2007.
