IRNA - German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt is seriously contemplating to sell Iranian national team captain Mehdi Mahdavikia in a bid to reduce team expenses as a resulted of a bloated squad, the online site of the bi-weekly kickers sport magazine reported Monday.

Mahdavikia whose current contract runs through 2010, is joined by team-mate Marcel Heller on Frankfurt's list of so-called "unwanted players."
A major obstacle in moving Mahdavikia to another club is his high salary, according to kicker.

Mahdavikia who signed with Frankfurt last summer on a free transfer basis from Hamburg, has failed to meet the team's huge expectations.

The ex-Pirouzi midfielder inked a three-year deal with Frankfurt in June 2007 after playing eight seasons in Hamburg where he was a crowd favorite.

Mahdavikia arrived in Germany in 1999 to play for VfL Bochum, but moved to Hamburger SV after Bochum were relegated from the first Bundesliga league division at that time.
