MNA - Iran's national soccer team midfielder Mojtaba Jabbari says he intends to stay in his favorite club Esteqlal for the rest of the season.

"I will stay in Esteqlal till the end of the season," said Jabbari after a match with Abumoslem on Tuesday.

Jabbari avoided playing for French First Division team Grenoble despite being accepted after medical tests.

The Esteqlal star, whose father has recently passed away, said he found it hard to emotionally adapt to the situation in France and decided to stay with his family in Iran.

The 25-year-old playmaker signed a one-year contract with Esteqlal last Monday after he received offers from Germany, France and the UAE.

Jabbari scored his first goal of the season on Tuesday when Esteqlal thrashed Abumoslem 2-0.
