PTV - The Oman Football
Association (OFA) has announced plans to play a friendly match against the
Iranian national soccer team.
The OFA has scheduled 22 international games to prepare the country's
national team for the Persian Gulf Cup early next year.
According to OFA General Secretary Taha Al Kishry, Oman is planning to play
friendlies against teams from Egypt, Iran and Cameroon to prepare for the
event.
“Two four-team tournaments are also planned for the year-end. I hope these
matches will give enough exposure to the national team and will help new
coach Claude Le Roy finalize his strategy,” he said.
The Iranian squad has just returned home after holding a 17-day training
camp in Spain and the Czech Republic to prepare for the final Asian
qualifying round for the 2010 World Cup.
Iran is in Group B of the Asian qualifying round and will compete with North
Korea, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and the UAE.
Iran's soccer team has moved up 11 places, reaching the 37th position in the
recently released FIFA rankings.
