MNA - Iran’s Football
Federation (IFF) announced on Sunday that it is set to complain to FIFA
about Charlton Athletic’s refusal to hold a warm-up match in Spain over
political issues.
According to an agreement between IFF and the English club, the two teams
were scheduled to play a friendly in the Marbella training camp, located in
Spain.
IFF’s deputy said that England Football Association sent a letter to the
federation and cancelled the match over political reasons.
“We are going to lodge an official complaint to FIFA over Charlton’s
treatment. The football officials have already emphasized politics should
not interfere with sports and we ask them now why the English disregarded
the FIFA’s motto” Mehdi Taj declared.
