PTV - Iran's futsal team has
been drawn into Group D of the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup along with Spain,
Czech Republic, Uruguay and Libya.
The Final Draw for the tournament was held at the Ulysses Guimaraes
Convention Centre in the city of Brasilia on Thursday.
Group A will includes hosts Brazil as well as Russia, Japan, Cuba and
Solomon Islands while Italy, Portugal, Thailand, Paraguay the USA will
compete in group B.
Group C includes Argentina, Ukraine, China PR, Guatemala and Egypt.
The Asian champion, Iran, will face with defending champions Spain in its
first match on October 1.
The sixth edition of the world championship will take place in the cities of
Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia between September 30 and October 19.
For the first time in its history there will also be 20 teams taking part
instead of the usual 16.
Last May, Iran's national futsal team won the 10th Asian Football
Confederation Futsal Championship in Bangkok.
