Bundesliga football team FSV Frankfurt signed Amir Shapourzadeh to a
contract due to expire in 2010, the sports press reported Monday.
Shapourzadeh had been without a team after relegated first division
Bundesliga squad Hansa Rostock refused to renew his deal.
FSV Frankfurt was promoted to the second division at the end of last season
which ended in May.
The 25-year-old Iranian international was also linked earlier to
Hamburg-based second division Bundesliga squad FC St. Pauli.
Shapourzadeh who grew up in Hamburg started his football career at the
amateur division of Bundesliga side Hamburger SV and later joined Hansa
Rostock in 2004 as a professional footballer.
The new FSV Frankfurt striker has also played 3 matches for Iran's B
national football team during the last West Asian Games.
