MNA - Esteghlal coach Amir
Ghalenoei paid tribute to Firouz Karimi and Naser Hejazi as his predecessors
after he won the Iran’s League Cup championship on Monday.
Esteghlal thrashed Pegah of
Gilan 3-0 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium in the second leg of the Iran’s League
Cup and took the title for the fifth time.
“I followed Hejazi’s and Karimi’s path. This victory belongs to them as
well.”
He praised Pegah’s performance in the final, adding, “Pegah played pretty
good against us but we were the better team and deservedly won the title. We
controlled their key players and never lost our concentration. We scored all
chances we got to win the match. Thanks God for this victory.” said
Ghalenoei.
