Club's senior and reserve teams left for Belgium last night to conduct a
one-month training camp in preparation for the coming season.
The season will start on September 12 with the President Cup's qualifiers.
The two teams will play several warm up matches during their external
training camp against the Belgian First and Second Division clubs. The
delegation includes 54 members (34 for the senior team and 20 for the
reserves).
The club is looking towards compensating last season's poor results. Al Wasl,
who won the league title six times, finished fifth last season and went out
of the President's Cup preliminary due to the Football Association's
sanctions.
Juhan Boskamp, the Dutch coach, will begin his second season with the club,
and the Iranian striker Farhad Majidi will play for the third season
for the club.
Hamid Kavianpour is the new professional who signed with Al Wasl two
months ago. The Dutch coach Boskamp asked the club's board to replace the
Chilean striker Cristian Montecinos, who played for the club in the last
season, with a mid-fielder. They did so by signing with Kavianpour,
and released Montecinos for the Dubai Club, the new comers to first
division.
