Football Federation(IFF) in a meeting with Germany’s ambassador to Iran on
Tuesday called for a friendly match between Iran and Germany’s football
teams.
Ali Kafashian officially invited the German football team to Tehran to hold
a warm-up match.
According to German media sources, Herbert Honsowitz paid tribute to Iran’s
German-based players in the meeting. He expressed his desire to expand the
level of sport ties with Iranians.
Iran and Germany played together in 2005 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, in which
the hosts lost 2-0 to their powerhouse rivals.
Iranian football team prepares itself for the 2010 World Cup qualifications
while the Germans seek a number of warm-up matches in preparation for the
Euro 2008.
