PTV - Iran's national football
team stands fourth in Asia after seeing no change in its 51st position in
the latest FIFA ranking in May.
Japan dropped one place to 37th, but remained in the first position in Asia,
followed by Australia and South Korea, both of which did not move in the
ranking either.
The small changes in this month's table resulted from the limited number of
friendly matches across the globe since the April ranking.
Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic, France,
Greece, Portugal, the Netherlands, England, Croatia, Romania, Ghana and
Scotland retained their April position and remained the top 15 in the latest
ranking.
Despite repeated requests by Iran's coach Ali Daei for at least one friendly
ahead of the decisive June 2 match against the UAE, in the 2010 World Cup
qualifiers, the Iranian Football Federation (IFF) has not been able to
arrange any such games.
