MNA - Saipa football team
defeated Isfahan’s Sepahan 1-0 in the 30th week of the Iran’s Professional
League(IPL) at the Foolad Shahr Stadium on Wednesday.
The match was regarded as the Iran’s Football Super Cup as well. Saipa
defends its IPL’s championship as Sepahan is known as Iran’s League Cup
title holder. This is while two teams are competing in the Asian Champions
League.
Isa Traore gave the visitors the lead in the 20th minute of the match.
Ebrahim Sadeghi’s brilliant cross from the right side found an unmarked
Traore in scoring position and he headed the ball into the net.
With two minutes remaining, Sepahan’s Emad Reza’s goal was denied by referee
Mohsen Ghahremani due to offside.
Sepahan stays on top with 53 points and Saipa moved up to ninth place with
39 points.
Elsewhere, Saba Battery, IPL second place, was held to a 2-2 draw against
Bargh of Shiraz in Tehran’s Saba Shahr Stadium.
Mehdi Karimian and Naser Shokrun netted twice for Bargh of Shiraz in the 6th
and 14th minute. Meanwhile, Ferydoon Fazli and Amir Hossein Feshangchi
leveled the match after scoring in 48th and 56th minute.
Saba Battery is third with 48 points and Bargh occupies the sixth place with
42 points.
