GOAL - Iranian striker Vahid
Hashemian has agreed to return to former club VfL Bochum at the end of the
season, it has been confirmed.
The news that current club Hannover 96 had agreed to sign Bayern Munich
outcast Jan Schlaudraff confirmed once-and-for-all that Hashemian's days at
the AWD-Arena were over.
The Iranian had a solid spell at the club upon first signing back in the
2005/05 season, continuing his trend of finding the net under then-coach
Peter Neururer, under whom he had played at three separate German clubs.
But with Neururer's sacking and the eventual appointment of Dieter Hecking
came a barren run of games where Hashemian was at best a substitute, and he
has now been permitted to leave on a free transfer at the end of this
campaign.
His destination is former club VfL Bochum, for whom he enjoyed one of his
most successful career spells, netting 34 times in 87 league games between
2001 and 2004, enough to secure him a high-profile move to Bayern Munich.
Hashemian will sign a two-year deal with the North-Rhine Westphalia outfit
with the option to extend the agreement at a later date.
