AFC - There was no end to
defending Iran Pro League champions Saipa's fluctuating domestic fortunes as
they crashed to a 2-0 defeat at home to lowly Sanat Naft in the 27th week of
action on Sunday.
Saipa, who established themselves atop Group B of the AFC Champions League
with a solitary goal defeat of Al Quwa Al Jawiya in the last round, were
done in at the Enghelab Stadium by goals from Brazilian duo Renato (23) and
Leonardo (46).
The Ali Daei-led outfit's fourth defeat at home leaves them in ninth
position in the ladder with 35 points with seven more games to follow, while
fellow ACL side Sepahan of Isfahan are on top with 49 points.
Sanat Naft climbed up a rung to 15th place on 30 points but the Abadan team
are still perilously close to the drop zone.
