AFC - Zob Ahan won the
inaugural Isfahan Provincial League, which was launched under AFC’s Vision
Iran-Project Isfahan in August 2007.
Zob Ahan finished on top of the 12-team standings with 57 points, 12 ahead
of second-placed Shahrdari Isfahan. Zob Ahan won 18, lost one and drew three
out of their 22 games.
Kamal Jazini from fourth-placed Nirougah club, who were also given the fair
play trophy, was the topscorer of the league with 19 goals.
Isfahan FA has decided to start the second season of the league from July 16
and also launch second division with the participation of 12 teams at a
review meeting held with AFC Vision Asia recently.
An U-11 schools competition is also underway in Isfahan where 42 teams have
been divided into seven zones of six teams each.
Meanwhile, Iran Football Association has selected Hamedan and Qazvin
provinces for inclusion into Vision Iran project. A pre-assessment visit by
AFC has already been completed in these provinces. Both provinces are eager
to launch the Vision Iran projects and are keen to emulate the progress made
by Isfahan and Fars FAs.
Core elements of focus in these provinces will be football administration
and management, clubs and competitions, grassroots and youth, coaches and
referees education.
The Vision Asia team will visit these provinces in mid-May for the
Assessment Visit.
