PTV - Tehran's Esteqlal squad
has defeated Shiraz's Barq at home to take fifth place in the Iranian
Premier League (IPL).
In the 23rd week of the IPL, the Blues edged the Oranges 4-2 at Azadi
Stadium in the Iranian capital.
Meisam Moni'ei netted at the 23rd minute to put Esteqlal ahead before more
than 40,000 mostly Blue fans. Omid Ravankhah scored Esteqlal's second goal
at 49th minute,
Alireza Mansurian scored the third at 88th minute to secure three points in
the match for the Tehran team. The fourth was scored in extra time by Mohsen
Sadeqi.
Esteqlal defender Amir Hossein Sadeqi's self-goal and Barq's Ehtesham
Sassani's late penalty kick helped Barq save some face.
In the second half, Barq was reduced to 10 men when the referee did not
think twice about showing a red card to Gholamzadeh in minute 73.
