IRNA - The United States
invited Iranian national football team for friendly matches, Secretary
General of Iran National Olympic Committee and Chairman of Iran Football
Federation Ali Kafashian said on Tuesday.
He told IRNA that head of international strategies and development of United
States National Olympic Committee Dragomir Cioroslan who is on a four-day
visit to Iran for training 65 weightlifters, at National Olympic and
Paralympic Academy, called for holding joint camps with Iranian athletes in
the United States in the run up to the World Cup Games.
Kafashian said that Cioroslan also invited Iranian national football team to
hold a friendly matches with the United States national football team and
another team in Los Angeles.
The Iranian official said that he conditioned acceptance of the invitations
to the clearance of the Foreign Ministry.
He said that the presence of Iranian athletes in the United States will be
in the framework of the international regulations, but, for the friendlies
in the US, 'we need an okay from the Foreign Ministry'.
Kafashian said that the US officials were ready to sign a letter of
understanding and the Iranian party conditioned signing the accord to
approval of respective officials.
He said that the invitation for the national Iranian football team is for
May.
