IRAN - Spokesman of Football
Federation, Mehdi Taj, said here Saturday that Javier Clemente Lasaro, new
head coach of Iran's National Football Team, will arrive in Tehran on
January 30.
"He will be in Tehran on January 30 to observe the Iranian side taking on
Costa Rica and probably will stay for Iran versus Syria," Taj said in
reference to Iran's preliminary match for the 2010 South Africa World Cup.
Taj reiterated that Clemente would start his work officially as soon as he
arrives in Tehran.
In related developments, Head of Football Federation, Ali Kaffashian, said
on Thursday that Clemente, along with his two assistants will arrive in
Tehran within a week.
He told IRNA, "The agreement with Clemente has been finalized and the new
head coach of Iranian National Football Team will arrive on January 30 or
31."
Kaffashian added that Clemente
has signed a three-year contract with the football federation through to
2011.
