GOAL – Mohamadi Nabi, the
deputy of the Iranian Football Federation, has revealed that Iran is hoping
to arrange a friendly against Spain in the near future.
Iran are in the middle of
preparations for the start of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup. The opening
game takes place against Syria on February 6.
Nabi told the press: "We have previously requested this friendly game and
they have responded to our request and that shows we have a high chance of
arranging this game."
He continued: "We just have to discuss the date of the friendly encounter as
we requested two matches on a home and away basis and considering the close
ties between the two Federations, not many problems are."
In response to cancellation of Iran-Mali match last week, Nabi said: "We
have suggested May 26th as the next date for this friendly match."
