GOAL – Branko Ivankovic,
former coach of the Iranian national team, is one of the names linked with
Sepahan after the departure of Luka Bonacic.
Branko Ivankovic who left the Team Melli hotseat after a poor 2006 World Cup
campaign in Germany appears to be on the shortlist for the next Sepahan's
coach.
Bonacic, who led the Isfahan team to the final of the 2007 Asian Champions
League, left recently to take over UAE club Al-Nasr.
"Ivankovic is one of our choices, along with other foreign coaches who have
experience of coaching in Iran recently", said Sepahan Chief Executive
Mohammad Reza Saket.
He went on to add "Bonacic had lost all his desire to work with Sepahan, and
we decided that he could leave after paying some compensation."
Ivankovic has been in charge of Dinamo Zagreb since November 2006, and he
led the club to the Double in 2007 without losing a single competitive
match.
However, he resigned earlier this week due to differences with Dinamo Zagreb
officials.
Former German coach of Saipa, Werner Lorant, is also linked with Sepahan who
are currently second in Iran League, only two points behind Perspolis.
Lorant started last season in charge of Saipa, but was then replaced by Ali
Daei. Saipa eventually won the league last season.
