PTV – Iranian officials have
approached former Japan coach Philippe Troussier for the vacant managerial
spot of the country's national team.
Troussier, known also as 'White Witch Doctor' for his success with African
clubs and national teams said he would meet with Iranian soccer officials in
Abu Dhabi Tuesday.
The former coach of Nigeria, South Africa and Burkina Faso further noted
that he would mull other job offers and then make the best decision.
Although big names such as German Winfried Schafer, Frenchman Jacques
Santini and Dutchman Dick Advocaat have been mentioned as possible
candidates to steer Iran's national team, the Football Federation has yet to
reach an agreement.
Iranian star Mehdi Mahdavikia earlier voiced concern over the future of
Iran's national team which has been without a coach for months.
