IHT - Jared Borgetti and Jaime Lozano both
scored by the 27th minute and Mexico prepared for next week's CONCACAF Gold
Cup with a 4-0 victory over Iran on Saturday.
Borgetti gave Mexico the lead in the second minute and Lozano added his in
the 27th to get El Tri started quickly. Francisco Fonseca and Gerardo
Torrado added goals in the 81st and 84th for Mexico, which improved to 4-1
under manager Hugo Sanchez.
The match also served as the debut for striker Nery Castillo of Greek club
Olympiakos.
"I'm very happy for the debut, I want to thank everybody for the support,"
he said. "We did what we have to. It was a good match. We're headed in the
right direction."
Mexico takes on Paraguay on Tuesday at Azteca stadium before traveling to
New York, where it will open the Gold Cup against Cuba.
Castillo took part in the first score, with a powerful shot that goalkeeper
Seyed Rahmati could not control, and Borgetti just pushed the ball inside
for a record 41st goal with the national team.
