DPA - German media reported on Wednesday that
Bundesliga club SV Hamburg was to release Iranian international Mehdi
Mahdavikia, whose contract with the club is expiring at the end of the
season.
However, Argentine international Juan Pablo
Sorin and Dutch international Nigel de Jong are to stay. The report said
that coach Huub Stevens and official Dietmar Beiersdorfer had agreed to
release Mahdavikia.
"Those are all speculations. There have been no decisions taken," the club's
press officer Joern Wolf, however, said.
The club is also set to release Raphael Wicky, Besart Berisha and reserve
goalkeeper Sascha Kirschstein, who have contracts that extend beyond the
season.
Also leaving are Stefan Waechter and Rene Klingbeil whose contract are up at
the end of the season.
