AFC - Iran have improved their position to 32nd in the FIFA World Rankings
for the month of February released on Wednesday.
A strong showing in a series of friendlies saw Amir Ghaleenoiee’s team soar
five places up the ladder and stretch their reign as the top-ranked side in
Asia to four months.
Australia (39th) stayed second and Japan improved to 41st (up 5). Korea
Republic (up 7; 44th) and Uzbekistan (down 5; 50th ) rounded off the top 50.
Qatar plummeted 18 places to 77th position, no doubt due to their poor run
in the Gulf Cup, followed by Lebanon (down 14; 124th) and Kuwait (down 8;
84th).
Oman (up 8; 76th) were the biggest gainers this month after reaching the
Final of the Gulf Cup where they lost to UAE (up 1; 87th).
