PFDC - VIGO, Iranian exports Javad Nekounam
and Rahman Rezaei enjoyed a fine week-end as they both played a major role
in their respective team's positive result.
Osasuna's confidence was given a much-needed boost with their last week
victory over Gimnastic as they were visiting Celta de Vigo.
The visitors dominated the first half and took a deserved lead after 35
minutes when Valdo fired low past the keeper.
After the restart, Celta de Vigo fought back with a period of pressure but
Osasuna's compact midfield and well organized defense frustrated the hosts
ambitions.
Celta de Vigo were left with 10 men after Angel was shown the red card in
the 72th minute.
Juanfran assured the three points and made it 2-0 in favor of the Basques in
injury time.
Iranian midfielder Javad Nekounam played the full 90 minutes for the first
time with his new club. The 26-year old is obviously adapting quickly to La
Ligua as he displayed an excellent performance in front of the back four.
In Italy, AC Milan's 100 per cent winning record came to an end at the
Stadio Picchi as Livorno held the Milanese to 0-0 draw.
The visitors clearly dominated the first half and had several good scoring
occasions but were frustrated by Livorno's goalkeeper Marcos Amelia.
After the break, the hosts began to threaten but could not capitalize on
their chances, while at the other end Amelia continued his flawless work in
the net preventing Milan to run away with the three points.
Central back Rahman Rezaei played the full match. The Iranian defender
showed another solid performance with Livorno.
Livorno will be without their best player, Cristiano Lucarelli, for the next
three weeks as the striker picked up a tigh injury.
