Dubai - Al Nasr's senior football team
continued training at their external training camp in Germany in preparation
for the new season which kicks off on September 14th.
They began their three- week training camp on August 5th at Klosterfurta
under German coach Rainer Hollmann. The players are practising three
training sessions a day, at 6am, 3pm and 6pm.
Al Nasr will play six warm-up matches in Germany. The team is missing the
services of four players during the training camp, the two Iranians
Farhad Majidi and Arash Borhani who are preparing with their national
team in Tehran to meet Syria in the Asian Cup qulaifiers group B on August
16. Majidi and Borhani will join Al Nasr training camp in Germany on August
17.
Also absent from the German training camp are Mohammad Khamis and Ali Abbas.
They are with the UAE national team preparing to meet Jordan next week in
the Asian qualifiers group C in Amman.
Past glory
Al Nasr, looking to strengthen their side for the coming season, signed the
Al Shabab and UAE national team goalkeeper Salim Abdullah.
Al Shaab defender Saeed Yousuf also signed for Al Nasr. The two players
signed one-year contracts with the club.
Al Nasr, who finished fifth in the league last season, will be looking to
recapture their past glory.
The last time Al Nasr won the league title was during season 1985-1986. Al
Nasr have won the title three times before, they have also won the President
Cup three times.
The team will return to Dubai in the last week of August and play two warm-
up matches before they meet Dibba Fujairah in the President Cup first round
at Sharjah stadium on September 15.
Al Nasr's first match in the league will be against arch rivals Al Wasl at
Al Maktoum stadium on September 21.
Al Nasr's Salah Abbas has joined Al Wasl in a one-year deal.
