MNA – The Physical
Education Organization (PEO) here Monday installed Kiumars Hashemi as
the Iran’s Football Federation (IFF) caretaker head.
The top sporting body issued the directive following the ouster of
former IFF president Mohammad Daadkan immediately after the 2006 World
Cup Group D match between Iran and Angola in the German city of Leipzig
last Wednesday.
Lackluster performance and weak results in the tournament prompted the
PEO to fire Daadkan in absentia.
Iran finished fourth with meager one point out of three games with
Mexico, Portugal, and Angola.
Hashemi, head of the Championship Sports Promotion Center, is duty-bound
to hold a general assembly within six months to elect the new federation
chief.
