Gulfnews - Al Nasr club officially announced
the signing of Iranian strikers Arash Borhani and Farhad Majidi.
Both players signed a two- year contract with Al Nasr.
Borhani who is now with the Iranian national team in Croatia preparing for
the World Cup Finals in Germany, scored one of Iran's two goals when they
drew with Croatia 2-2 in Osijek,
Iran were leading 2-1 with the goal Borhani scored in 82nd minute, but
Croatia levelled from the spot through Babic deep into injury time.
Qadi Muroshed the Al Nasr board chairman and Khalid Bin Mejrin, the board
member, held marathon talks with the president of Pas Tehran, the club which
Borhani play for held at the Al Nasr club.
The talks ended at 4am on Monday before they succeeded in signing him
without announcing the deal.
Farhad Majidi, the Iranian striker who helped Al Ahli to win the league
title, has also signed for Al Nasr. Majidi who played for Al Wasl club for
six seasons was hired to Al Ahli club until the end of the season which
concluded last Friday.
He signed a two year contract with Al Nasr and will be wearing the blue
shirt next season along with his countryman Borhani.
Al Nasr supporters are optimistic with Majidi's signing due to the luck he
caries with him wherever he goes.
In 2003 he was hired to Al Ain club, and he helped them to win the Asian
Champions League, and in the current season he contributed in Al Ahli
winning the league title after a 26 years absence.
Al Nasr are eager to win the league title next season following a 20-year
drought. Last time Al Nasr won it was back in 1986. The two Al Nasr foreign
players Brazilian Valder and Moroccan Faisal Edreesi who played for Al Nasr
last season will be replaced by Borhani and Majidi.
Meanwhile Al Nasr club's new board of directors held its first meeting on
Monday chaired by Qadi Muroshed. The board named Dawood Al Hajery as general
secretary and Abdullah Bin Touq assistant to him.
Shaikh Mohammad Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum football committee chairman,
Khalid Bin Mejrin deputy chairman and members Abdullah Khalifa, Talal Al
Hashemi.
Ali Ebrahim financial manager, Ebrahim will also chair the developing
resources committee and Mohammad Seddiqi assistant to him.
