said here Sunday that following necessary precautionary measures taken
for the security of Iran's national football team in Germany, no
security problems would threaten the team at the tournament.
Majlis has been involved in affairs related to this and "We hope there
would be no security problem for the team.
"The German government is responsible for the security of Iran's
national football team."
The 18th World Cup Soccer Tournament will start in Germany on June 11,
2006 and will continue for one month. Thirty two of the world's best
soccer teams will compete with each other and Iran's national football
team is one of them.
A report released by Iran's Foreign Ministry said that the German police
promised to take appropriate measures to establish order and prevent any
move by opposition groups to undermine the morale of the Iranian team
during the World Cup games.
It added that the contact was mainly aimed to thwart attempts by
anti-revolutionary groups, in particular the MKO, intending to undermine
the morale of the members as well as fans of Iran's national football
team.
"Providing security during the World Cup 2006 and favorable ground for
the upcoming games is of great importance to the German government.
Therefore, the required measures are expected to be taken by the German
officials in charge," he concluded
