PFDC - BERLIN, A caricature of Iranian
players' carrying explosives was published in Berlin based newspaper "Tagesspiegel"
on Friday.
Caricaturist Klaus Stuttmann drew the picture showing the Iranian
football players with bomb-belts and German soldiers beside them. "Why
the German Bundeswehr (army) has to be in action at the World Cup!!" was
added as text.
The caricature is targeted at the discussion about if the German army
should be involved in the security matters at the World Cup.
Although Klaus Stuttmann intentions seem to be making fun of the idea of
involving the German army in the World Cup, he insults the players of
the Iranian national team, of which many play or played in Germany, by
picturing them as terrorists.
