
MNA – Promoted Rah Ahan scored a surprising
3-1 away win over Sepahan while three matches ended in draw in the 11th week
of the fifth Iran Pro League on Monday.
The capital-based Rah Ahan took the lead in Naqsh-e Jahan Stadium in central
city of Isfahan from the penalty spot on 16 minutes, with Mehdi Tartar
converting the spot-kick.
Amin Torkashvand widened the gap eight minutes after halftime, but Abbas
Aqaii pulled one back in the 59th minute, which proved a consolation goal as
Ahmad Taqavi restored the two-goal cushion one minute into stoppage time.
On the muddy pitch of Hafezieh Stadium of the southern capital Shiraz, Fajr-e
Sepassi and the visiting Esteqlal of Ahvaz fought to a scoreless tie.
In Shahid Nassiri in the southern capital city of Yazd, Brazilian signing
Carlos Santos extracted one point for promoted Shahid Qandi in a home match
against Saba Battery, which ended 1-1.
Veteran fullback Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh put Saba ahead eight minutes after
the kickoff and Santos ruled out the visitor’s opener five minutes from the
interval.
In Enqelab Stadium in Karaj, 35km west of Tehran, the home team Saipa and
Abu Moslem failed to find the net in the first half and struggled to 1-1 tie
after the break.
Saipa opened the scoring on 75 minutes by Ali Ebrahimian, whose goal
responded by Mohammadreza Khal’atbari six minutes later.
On Tuesday, holder Fulad entertains Barq in Abadan’s Takhti Stadium, the
capital’s Esteqlal travels to northern city of Noshahr to meet Shamushak,
the table-topper Zob Ahan plays an away match against Pas in Shahid
Dastgerdi Stadium in western Tehran, and Persepolis hosts the northern side
Malavan in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
