Berlin - Hertha Berlin's teenage striker
Ashkan Dejagah denied Iranian media reports that he had received an offer
from the Iranian football federation to join the Iran's national football
team.
"I could very well imagine to play for Iran but there have been no concrete
offers yet. I feel close links with Iran since both of my parents are from
Iran," Dejagah said Monday in an interview with the Germany-based Iran-Fussball
Portal.
Asked about his real chances to join the national side, the under-19 German
international responded, "it is about 50-50 because I can only decide once I
get an offer from Iran."
Dejagah's latest statements followed earlier comments by Iranian national
coach Branko Ivankovic, who voiced interest in nominating the Hertha Berlin
player for the upcoming national team training camp in England later this
month.
Dejagah, who plays for the under-19 German national squad, is regarded by
football experts as one of Germany's future football hopes.
