FIFAworldcup - The FIFA Disciplinary Committee
met today in Zurich under the chairmanship of Marcel Mathier (Switzerland).
The decisions taken today included the following, which have already been
notified to the three associations mentioned below who were all present at
FIFA headquarters:
DPR Korea Football Association:
Following the incidents that occurred during the games of the 2006 FIFA
World Cup Germany™ preliminary competition Korea DPR-Bahrain (March 26,
2005) and Korea DPR-Iran (March 30, 2005), the next scheduled "home game" of
Korea DPR in this competition (v Japan on June 8, 2005) will be played on
neutral ground and behind closed doors. FIFA will announce the venue in due
course.
In addition, the DPR Korea Football Association has been fined CHF 20,000.
IR Iran Football Association:
Following the incidents that occurred after the game of the 2006 FIFA World
Cup Germany™ preliminary competition Iran-Japan (March 26, 2005), the next
home game of Iran in this competition (v Korea DPR on June 3, 2005) will be
played with a maximum attendance of 50,000 spectators.
In addition, the IR Iran Football Association has been fined CHF 30,000.
Georgian Football Federation:
Following the incidents that occurred during the games of the 2006 FIFA
World Cup Germany™ preliminary competition Georgia-Greece (March 26, 2005)
and Georgia-Turkey (March 30, 2005), the next two home games of Georgia in
this competition (v Ukraine on September 3, 2005 and v Kazakhstan on October
8, 2005) will be played behind closed doors.
In addition, the Georgian Football Federation has been fined CHF 5,000.
All of these sanctions are subject to appeal. Appeals must be lodged within
three days of communication of the decision, with a reasoned appeal lodged
within a further seven days. The IR Iran Football Association has already
informed FIFA that it will not lodge an appeal.
All other decisions taken today by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee will be
notified to the parties concerned in the next few days.
