MNA – Iranian football league holder Pas
hired former Turkey manager Mustafa Denizli here Sunday.
Pas Club managing director Mostafa Ajorlu officially named the 55-year-old
Denizli as the successor to Iran Pro League-winning Majid Jalali, who was
axed on Dec. 27 due to the side’s lackluster performance.
Pas has nosedived to the 11th spot in the 16-team table on 16 points out of
15 games.
Denizli favors an attacking style of play -- perhaps unsurprisingly given
his speciality in his playing days of scoring direct from corners -- but
failed to guide his side to France for the last World Cup.
He spent 13 years with Altay in his hometown, gaining a reputation as one of
the best left-sided forwards in the league.
The striker finished his playing career with Galatasary, whom he then
managed in two spells before moving on to coach Kocaelispor in 1994 and from
there to the national side.
