ATHENS2004 - Iran
celebrated their first win by beating Ireland 7-2 on the
third day of Group A for the 7-a-side Football Tournament
at the Helliniko Sports Complex. Ireland suffered their
third loss in the Tournament, having conceded 18 goals
after three matches.
Houshang KHOSRAVANI (IRI) scored a hat-rick, Addolreza
KERIMIZADEH (IRI) found the net twice, Seyed Nasser
HOSSEINI FAR (IRI) scored once and Aidan BRENNAN (IRL)
scored an own goal, while both goals of Ireland were
scored by Alan O HARA (IRL).
The first half was rich in goals. HOSSEINI FAR scored
headed the opener in the 4th minute but the Irish
equalised in 1-1 seconds later with O HARA, who gave
Ireland the lead by 2-1 in the 9th minute.
KHOSRAVANI equalised 2-2 with a header in the 11th minute
and Javad MANSOUR FALAH (IRI) shot on the right post in
the 26th minute.
KHOSRAVANI gave the lead 3-2 to the Iranian side in the
27th minute and KERIMIZADEH made it 4-2 for the Asian
team with a header in the 29th minute.
On the second half Iranians celebrated three more goals.
BRENNAN sent the ball in the net of his own team after
KHOSRAVANI's cross from the left side in the 39th minute
and KERIMIZADEH scored the sixth goal for Iran from a
short range in the 54th minute.
KHOSRAVANI scored the seventh Iranian goal and his own
third in the match (fifth in the Tournament) in the 59th
minute and Iran celebrated a well deserved victory.
