BBC - Jordanian football
fan fainted, then went berserk in a public square, when
his team lost to Iran in a World Cup qualifier on
Wednesday.
When Iran scored first, Muhammad Mansi, of Zarqa, lost
consciousness and had to be revived by fellow fans.
After Iran's second goal, he vented his anger by smashing
the wide-screen TV that people had gathered to watch.
The coffee shop owner who owned the TV did not report him
to the police after customers helped paid for the damage.
About 100 people had gathered to watch the game in the
industrial town, north of Amman, the official Jordanian
news agency Petra reports.
Mr Mansi also smashed and set fire to chairs that the
cafe-owner had put out in the square for people to sit
and watch the match.
Jordan lost the tie, played at home in Group 1 of the
Asian qualifying stage, by two goals to nil.
