Sir Bobby Robson and Alan Shearer meet the Thai prime minister

BBC - Newcastle lost in a penalty shoot-out to Thailand on Wednesday after the sides had drawn 1-1 after 90 minutes. 
Lee Bowyer and summer signing James Milner both missed from the spot as Newcastle lost 4-2 on penalties. 

Thai striker Chaikamdee had fired the hosts in front after 20 minutes at the Rajamangala Stadium, where temperatures soared to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. 

Newcastle equalised after 62 minutes when Bowyer slotted home after Darren Ambrose's shot had been saved. 


Captain Alan Shearer and youngster Michael Chopra both missed first-half chances for the Magpies. 

At the break Shearer, Gary Speed and Laurent Robert made way for Shola Ameobi, Bowyer and the debutant Milner. 

After Bowyer had levelled matters Copra might have won it for Magpies but failed to take his chance.
