Asian soccer semis not canceled despite heavy rain: Alizadeh

Tehran, April 3, IRNA - Manager of the Azadi Sports Complex's Public Relations Department announced Tuesday that in spite of heavy rain the semifinals of the 21st Asian Club Championships will be held here Wednesday afternoon.
In his talks with IRNA, Masoud Alizadeh added that the pitch of Azadi Stadium and in particular its central part had already been
under restoration and therefore the field is being prepared for Asian matches.
Unfortunately, the recent rainfall has caused problems regarding preparation of the field, said the official, adding that despite covering the pitch, some parts of the field have been socked with rainwater and a group is making every effort to collect water.
In the first Asian semifinal match, Nasaf Karsi from Uzbekistan and South Korean side Suwon Samsung will meet at 04:00 pm (1130 GMT) and the host team, Esteqlal of Tehran, and Anyang of South Korea will clash at 06:30 pm in the second derby.
On Friday, the losers will fight in the first match at 04:00 pm for the third title and the winners are to play in the final at 06:30 pm on the Azadi pitch.
