Mehr News – Iran’s Football Federation gave the nod to the resignation of the Olympic team manager Mohammad Mayeli-Kohan and installed Hossein Faraki as the new head coach Monday.
Iran’s Croat manager Branko Ivankovic was also introduced as the consultant by the federation’s technical committee.
Mayeli-Kohan offered his resignation after two consecutive losses to South Korea and China in the Asian zone qualifiers of 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
Iran crushed the Malaysian side 4-1 in its first qualifying match in Kuala Lumpur, lost 1-0 to South Korea in Tehran, and was beaten by China 3-1 in Beijing.
Faraki has a hard task to steer Iran to the Olympic Games.
