    MiddleeastFootbal - Iran
international striker Farhad Majidi eclipsed his compatriot Ali Karimi in
Friday night’s Dubai derby, as he steered Al-Wasl to a thoroughly-deserved
4-0 crashing win over Group 2 leaders Al-Ahly here in the United Arab
    Emirates.

This has been the Reds’ first defeat following an impressive debut of league
action, during which they rattled in four successive victories.

The lively Majidi netted the opener for Al-Wasl after 24 minutes, his fourth
goal in five league outings so far, before laying off the second goal for
young striker Ahmed Fayrouz midway through the second half, the real turning
    points of the game.

Defender Obaid Jamman aggravated the scoreline after 88 from a devastating
30-yard bullet, with Iranian new recruit Alireza Vahidi completing the rout
in stoppage time, handing Al-Ahly one of their heaviest league defeats in
    the last five seasons.

Al-Wasl are now trailing Group 2 leaders Al-Ahly by only 2 points, each side
having played 5 games to date.

In the other featured game held on Friday, fresh sub Mohamed Srour claimed a
crucial double-delight within four minutes midway through the second-half to
help Al-Sha’ab gaining all three points in the 5-3 thriller held in front of
    6.000 fans.
