by Mohamed S. Chbaro MiddleEastFootball PFDC Partner MEF - DUBAI, March 24: Iranian centre-forwards Farhad Majidi and Ali Karimi were on the mark for the count of the 12th week of the United Arab Emirates league championship, helping their respective sides Al-Wasl and Al-Ahly maintaining fine spirits of late. Majidi notched a double-delight after 19 and 42 minutes to take his tally to 10 goals in 12 league outings this season, helping his side Al-Wasl to claim a worthy 3-3 home draw against defending title champions Al-Wahda for whom Qatari international striker Mohamed Salem Al-Enazi netted twice in reply. Al-Wasl are now at the fourth place with 21 points, trailing surprising leaders Al-Jazira by one slender point ahead of Tuesday's seemingly-easy outing against relegation-troubled Al-Ittihad away from home. Ali Karimi, the other sizzling Iranian forward, was also on the mark for Al-Ahly Dubai, notching one goal and laying off two others for his team mates as the rampant Reds gained a thrashing 5-0 victory at home to minnows Bani Yas, now coached by German Rainer Zobel, formerly at Al-Ahly of Cairo. Karimi, who was linked with Hertha Berlin during the off-season, is closely monitored by top Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, after proving a hit for Al-Ahly in his first season in the United Arab Emirates, notching 7 goals in 12 league matches. On a different note, local leading paper Al-Ittihad claimed on Sunday Brazilian Carlos Alberto Parreira has seen his chances of taking charge of the UAE national team boosted quite significantly after being contacted by the FA officials. "He said he will be pleased to pass by Dubai on his way to Japan next May," revealed the paper, "that if everything went fine he will be pleased to take charge of the side, but this should never be settled before next September."
