Iran will have its first match of the
four sided today by going against a weak Venezuelean team. Although
Venezuela is considered one of the weaker teams of the world they
have been surprising at times. The team which plays a 4-4-2
formation has managed to beat Uruguay, Paraguay, & Bolivia; two
of which have already qualified for the world cup.
Friday 1th of March the two national
football teams of Iran and Venezuela will clash in a friendly game
sponsored by LG and held in Morroco.
Venezuela are the weakest of the 10
South American countries, but this is hardly surprising because the
national sport is baseball. Originally memeber of CONCACAF, they
made their international debut in 1938 and switched to CONMEBOL in
1958. The national record is awful, with just one win in the South
American Championship and only a handful more in World Cup
qualifiers, even though they have entered both regulary.
20:30 TEH.TIME, The clubs are weak, too, and three Copa Libertadores sime-finals are the best they have managed, A profiessional league was finally set up in 1956, but Venezuela have a long way to go if they are even to catch up with theother South American minnows. YEAR FOUNDED: 1926 JOINED FIFA: 1952 Following are the results of Venezuela's most recent game: 29 Mar 2000 Ecuador - Venezuela 2-0 (1-0) 27 Apr 2000 Venezuela Argentina 0-4 (0-2) 05 Jun 2000 Colombia Venezuela 3-0 (2-0) 28 Jun 2000 Venezuela Bolivia 4-2 (2-0) 18 Jul 2000 Uruguay Venezuela 3-1 (1-1) 25 Jul 2000 Venezuela Chile 0-2 (0-0) 17 Aug 2000 Peru Venezuela 1-0 (0-0) 02 Sep 2000 Paraguay Venezuela 3-0 (3-0) 08 Oct 2000 Venezuela Brazil 0-6 (0-5) 16 Nov 2000 Venezuela Ecuador 1-2 (0-2) 29 Mar 2001 Argentina Venezuela 5-0 (2-0) 25 Apr 2001 Venezuela Colombia 2-2 (1-0) 03 Jun 2001 Bolivia Venezuela 5-0 (3-0) 15 Aug 2001 Venezuela Uruguay 2-0 (0-0) 05 Sep 2001 Chile Venezuela 0-2 (0-0) 07 Oct 2001 Venezuela Peru 3-0 (0-0) 09 Nov 2001 Venezuela Paraguay 3-1 (3-1) The Iranian team will get a check worth of 24 million tomans if they manage to win the match. varzeshkar.com
