Tehran Times - Amirhossein Peyrovani has been named as new head coach of Iran’s U-23 football team.
He is preparing Iran for the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship qualification, where the Persians have been drawn along with Kyrgyzstan and Oman.
Iran will open the competition with a match against host Kyrgyzstan on July 19.
Peyrovani has been head coach of Iran U-20 football team in the last two years.
Under tutelage of Peyrovani, Iran U-20 football team failed to qualify for the knockout stag after being defeated by Zambia and Portugal, despite a win over Costa Rica.
Iran U-23 football team has not qualified for the Olympics since 1976 Olympic Games in in Montreal, Quebec.
The 47-year-old coach has already worked in Iran’s U-23 football team as an assistant in 2009.
