Gulf News - Al Shabab struggling at the foot of the table held Al Wahda who
was leading the standing to a goalless draw in the First division league
match held at the Maktoum bin Rashid stadium at the Al Shabab club in Dubai
yesterday.
The goalless draw lifted Al Shabab a step forward, they have 17 points and
have to work hard in the coming three matches to secure a place in the First
division.
Al Wahda slipped from the top place which they were sitting on in the last
weeks, they are now second with 38 points, one point adrift of leaders Al
Ain who clinched the top place after beating Al Shaab yesterday and it will
be difficult to throw them off the top place with three matches remaining
for each team.
In the second match played at Al Maktoum stadium, Al Nasr played a goalless
draw with Al Wasl in a tough match in which two players were sent off, Walid
Murad of Al Nasr and Mohammed Khamis of Al Wasl.
Al Nasr supporters were not satisfied with the referee for his sending off
to Walid because they think the Al Wasl defender Humaid Yousuf falling on
the ground catching his face as if Walid elbowed him was a fake action to
convince the referee to send Walid off, they shouted against him after the
match dissatisfied with his decision.
Al Nasr have now 30 points in the fourth place while Al Wasl have 21 points
in the seventh place.
In the third match, Al Dhafra defeated Sharjah at the latter' s stadium.
Dain Fain scored the all important goal for Dhafra who are still at the
bottom with 14 points.
Sharjah are eighth with 19.
In the fourth match played at Kalba stadium in the eastern coast, Al Ittihad
defeated Al Ahli 2-1 to lift them a step forward away from the relegation
zone.
Jawad Qazimyan scored for Al Ahli from the spot in the 35th minute. Adil
Mohammed leveled for Ittihad in the 48th minute and Abdul Karim Hasan hit
the winner for Ittihad in the 62nd minute.
Qazimyan lost a penalty kick for Ahli seven minutes before time. Al Ittihad
stayed ninth with 18 points and Al Ahli dropped to fifth place with 29.
