Sardar Azmoun

TEHRANTIMES - After selling Leroy Sane to Manchester City, Bundesliga side Schalke 04 are looking for his replacement and have set their sights on signing of FC Rostov Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun, according to several reports in German media.

Last week he scored to help the Russian side beat Anderlecht in the UEFA Champions League play-offs.

The 21-year old striker is a great talent as he has scored 17 goals in 64 appearances since he moved to Russian Premier League in 2013. He has been impressive for Iran national team as he has scored 22 goals in 30 appearances.

The Iranian youngster could bring fresh air to Schalke’s offensive power. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is nearing the end of his career while Franco Di Santo has not meet the expectations. Azmoun could increase the pressure on both of them.

However there is a competition for the Royal Blues to sign Azmoun not only from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen but abroad from Liverpool, Everton and Marseille.

The departure of head coach Kurban Berdyev who build up Azmoun’s career from Rostov has fueled the potential move of Iranian striker to big European clubs.
